Relying on just one thing, one strategy, one platform is not enough today to grow your blogs reach, or its effectiveness. So, here are 7 blog post promotion tips to help you better boost your blog content visibility, and engagement.
Promoting each blog post may not take each and ever single one of the tips below to get it out there in front of all the eyeballs you can but, it will take a few or more every single time you publish one.
So, let’s look at the tips together, and as I can, I will let you know which ones seem to work the best almost every single time…
The game of blog post promotion.
Blog post promotion is more than a game played for years behind the scenes by professional marketers and bloggers. Today, promoting your blog posts is a must part of your internet marketing strategies if you wish to succeed online.
A few years ago it was enough to simply publish a great blog post and a piece of content on your website and let it do its thing.
Today, it takes some pushing from us to get things rolling a bit faster. Even search engines are starting to take their time posting up and indexing blog content, personally, I think they are waiting for a few things to happen.
So, here are some simple but, effective tips for promoting each of your blog posts, this way, you can get the most out of them starting now!
Promotion through share buttons.
To the left, to the right, top or bottom, does not matter, having social media sharing buttons is a common best internet marketing and blogging practice for any blog and blogger today.
See my share buttons on this page? As a matter of fact, they were practically built into this WordPress blog, all I had to do was click on a setting button on a built-in plugin.
While sharing itself is based on a more subjective notion and willingness of others who enjoy your awesome content, it is always a smart thing to have sharing capabilities available at all times, period.
“Content is anything that adds value to the reader’s life.” Avinash Kaughik
As a matter of fact, I still, and you still, see from time to time blogs without the ability to share their blog content. Recently, as in less than a week ago, I ran into this problem myself, again.
It is as simple as a Social Warfare plugin, maybe just turning on sharing capabilities with JetPack, or, it is just clicking that little button in your theme options of that professional WordPress theme you just bought.
Either way, no matter how simple it is to turn on your social sharing buttons, nothing is easier for people to use than these buttons for sharing and promoting your content, the content they love and wish to share!
This is click to tweet with #socialwarfare , so please, click to tweet! =)Click To Tweet
Promotion through click to tweet.
I use Social Warfare for my social sharing needs, I trust the software, and the developers with it when it comes to my blog.
Some would say, and they have shown that Twitter was losing a little strength there for a bit, and while that may be true in the financial world, its reach is back in demand because of one person, and you know who that is or was.
Twitter is still powerful, even before or after the fact of famous people or persons who are on it 24-7. That is a fact today, people are on it 24-7 today, that is why adding in a good Tweet This box using plugins like Social Warfare or Click To Tweet are perfect little plugins to have in your blog promotion arsenal.
Promotion through StumbleUpon.
With over 25 million users, StumbleUpon is one of the web’s biggest community as well as one of the cheapest places to advertise online. In a case study on his blog, Stefan Maescher revealed that he got 60,275 visitors to his blog by spending just $128.90.
StumbleUpon, much like Reddit and other syndication sites, can be a treasure trove of traffic, not to mention a place to get noticed and be linked to.
Personally, that is why I share blog content and other content I create to SU, it is a great place to get noticed by other bloggers and content creators who might be willing to share links to my content, and vice versa.
Promotion through your email list.
Blogging and content marketing may grow authority, and even an email list, but what your blog content does best via email is to build trust.
However, as far as promotion goes, nothing beats email when it comes to your blog post promotion, reason being is simple, your list knows you, likes you, and trusts you, so they are always more eager to share your blog content around.
See, in the end, sharing great content makes them look good not just you.
Your list will be the biggest and the most effective megaphone your blog content and posts will have, heck, it will be the biggest megaphone for all your marketing efforts, period.
Promotion through video.
I think a video is probably one of the most underused pieces of effect blog content marketing today.
One of the reasons you do not see enough video within blog posts, like this one here, is because for many years the “popular bloggers” did not need it, and today, well, they still do not.
See, they built their blogs back in the day when text alone on a page that was written well could be trusted. Add in a couple ugly large buttons to a simple contact page or product and boom! You were done!
Not today. A multimedia approach that includes images, perhaps podcasting, and especially video is and should be a part of your blogging best practices today.
While you may feel a bit uncomfortable with video, there is nothing wrong with voiceovers and even podcasting to start with.
Either way, videos, especially when hosted on platforms like YouTube and linked to somehow some way on your individual blog posts, can boost not only traffic to your blog, but it is a great way to convert traffic as well.
Want to promote a blog post today in the most effective manner? Put a video to it, and broadcast that to your list, then watch what happens.
Promotion through Facebook groups.
Quick traffic to that blog post and the multimedia that sits within it, can not be generated any faster than that of your email list and or, Facebook groups.
I love Facebook groups for quick traffic to a blog post I publish today.
One of the best tips I have is to literally subscribe to at least 15 or so FB groups that are specific to your niche blog or business.
Now, every time you publish a blog post, and you should on a regular basis, you need to share that link to the post with at least 4-6 groups today, and then 4-6 groups later on in the week.
Each time these should be different groups, and I would not do more than that as you could get in trouble with spam guidelines from Facebook.
So, share politely as I showed you above.
Promotion through good SEO.
Search engine optimization is still as important today as it was last year, and the year before, and the year before that!
SEO is not dead, especially when it comes to your blog and website as a whole.
Optimizing your blog posts for search engines is as easy as optimizing that same content for people! I mean seriously, did you know that mobile search has surpassed desktop today? Well, it has.
So, what does that mean to you and me? Simply put, it means that content needs to be formatted for consumption across multiple devices, not just desktop today.
And it tells us that textual content alone is not enough, and with all the algorithms and bots today looking at nearly 148 reasons to rank you high in the search engines, I guess we need to think twice before we publish anything on the fly today.
SEO and blogging go hand-in-hand today, and it is not something that can only be understood by the so-called “SEO experts” either, actually, basic, and best-practiced SEO can be learned and practiced by anyone today.
And when it comes to promotion through SEO, well, search engines like Google, YouTube, and so on are still the most trusted platforms online when it comes to seeking the answers we want today.
Boosting your blog post visibility.
Boosting your blog posts visibility can be done in a myriad of ways today but, through good SEO practices, social media, your email marketing campaigns and even a multimedia approach to your blogging.
These are, after all, the best blogging practices today…
