Blogging weekly, does it actually lead to a successful blog faster? Is it really the secret to a successful blog?
Like asking how many words to write when it comes to your first blog post, this question may seem nonsensical to some, but for others, especially new bloggers, the answer may surprise you!
So, here is my answer to whether or not you should be blogging weekly, and if in fact, it will help you succeed faster.
The secret to a successful blog.
I think at least half of the content we find online today about blogging successfully is, well, I hate to say it, wrong.
I also believe 40% of the other 50% is great information, the only problem is, it is rehashed over and over in a different way, and from another blogger shoving it out in a story format to connect with others.
Not that that is a bad thing, I think that is great! Some people will like others more than me when it comes to making a connection, and that is a fine by me, whatever works for you.
Then there is the las 10% of new ideas and or, better ways to use older ideas of best blogging practices.
And while I am a firm believer of blogging weekly if, at all possible, that is not the real secret behind ALL successful blogs out here, as a matter of fact, blogs fail and succeed regardless of how many blog posts the owner creates!
The secret, however, once again, is the old 80/20 Rule, no joke!
The 80/20 rule is as follows:
“The Pareto principle (also known as the 80/20 rule, the law of the vital few, or the principle of factor sparsity) states that, for many events, roughly 80% of the effects come from 20% of the causes. … The Pareto principle is only tangentially related to Pareto efficiency.”
But, what is the 80% and what is the 20% for a successful blog to be just that Dave, a successful blog!???
Well, simply put it is 80% promotion and 20% blogging.
Blog promotion matters most.
Blogging and creating content anywhere online is of little or no use if it is almost all but invisible.
Yes, you could get some great traffic through good search engine optimization best practices, but what about all the traffic you are leaving on the table? Or, better yet, the tablet, desktop, or smartphone?
Seriously, without a good blog promotion strategy, you are missing out on an amazing amount of traffic actually.
Blog promotion can increase all of the following:
- new readers
- new visitors
- returning visitors
- current subscribers
- and even grow lasting and loyal customers
Blog promotion is not just about driving new traffic either, as you can tell, over half that list is all about trust building with current readers, subscribers, and even customers.
A successful blog, well, successful bloggers and many online business owners and entrepreneurs know that blog promotion is literally the largest part of the blogging experience and practice.
Blog promotion can build more sales, and even be used to continue a good relationship between you and your current customers.
See, blog promotion matters, and it matters as much as creating the content in the first place.
Who puts a light under a bushel?
Jesus talked about how it is almost ludicrous to put a light under a bushel, what would be the point in the light in the first place? Why would you hide something that can help you and others to see better?
See, your blog posts, your static pages, and your blog as a whole is a light to others who need to see better the answers they need, and you need to put it out where it can be seen and found.
If you only write and publish, then move on without doing anything else, well, you put your blog under a bushel.
There was, however, a day and time that good SEO was all you needed, but not today, today that is just one part of the blog and brand building pie.
But not today, like I said above, search engines are still great for traffic, and quality traffic at that, but it takes more if you really want to take your blog’s success to a whole new level today.
Let the world see you, be that light on the hill.

How do I “promote” my blog?
Well, I have 7 different ways you can promote your blog posts here.
There are many ways to promote your blog, and it’s content. Here are just a few:
- Being found in search engines (good SEO)
- Video for blog posts
- Blog commenting
- Podcasting for you blog posts
- Webinars/Facebook Live/YouTube Livestream
- Guest blogging
- Weekly newsletters
- Sharing and engaging on social media
- Social media groups (Facebook groups)
- You email marketing campaigns
And the list goes on. However, between blogging on a regular basis, adding video to the blog posts via YouTube, and sharing through social media groups and broadcasting my posts to my list, well, it works well!
Yes, I guest post from time to time, and so should you. Also, creating a weekly webinar, roundup post, or some sort of content that people can come to rely on frequently is a great practice for promoting your blog.
Building your blog’s brand is as important as creating its content. See, making a solid traffic driving and converting blog takes more than some simple tricks touted by some marketing “guru” out here, it takes promotion too.
And promotion is not something some software out here can answer for you, IT IS YOU!
Promotion is psychological, it is not based on the “automated” “done for you” guru hack software out here!
Click Funnels and Thrive Leads are a part of the puzzle, not the whole puzzle. Good SEO, email marketing, video, and your social media marketing, still, these are just parts of the puzzle, not all of it.
Using any of the other content marketing platforms above (on my short list) can help to promote not only individual blog posts but your blog and brand as a whole.
Personally, I also like the practice of blog commenting and joining in on conversations within groups on Facebook.
Commenting and being a part of conversations already happening online about your blog’s topic, or an individual post for that matter, can garner some serious fast traffic.
Every time I comment on Blogging From Paradise or, ProBlogger, I get a boost of traffic and fast.

Blogging weekly, blogging often?
Blogging weekly is great, all the more awesome content for people. Blogging at least regularly and often is a best practice that cannot be taken halfheartedly. However, blog promotion IS A MUST!
Never underestimate the power of creating a great blog post, and never underestimate the power behind pushing it out there for that great blog or blog post to get the attention it deserves.
The 80/20 Rule is a fact here, your blogging and blog’s success really is built on not jsut creating content on a regular basis, but also, and mostly, through the blog promotion skills you’ve learned and apply.
Get to creating great blog content today, and then, get to promoting the crud out of it!
