Yes, there are things we need to give up if we want to succeed with blogging. Here are some I’ve learned I could live without, and to tell you the truth, I think you can too.
Let’s look at these 7 things we need to give up, actually, these 7 stifling things that are holding us back from a successful business and lifestyle online…
Give up the idea of the perfect website and blog.
When getting started here, give up the idea of perfection. Actually, I think this whole idea of not publishing anything until everything is “perfect” is absolute nonsense.
Perfection is literally the enemy of success, I hate to say that, and it sounds funny, but it is true. Trying to make things perfect when it comes to success online is subjective anyways!
I have been on some ugly looking websites and blogs that I love and follow today because of the content. And I have been on some great looking so-called “perfect” looking smooth as can be websites that simply lacked any real value, and I was not the only one to realize that I noticed in the comments section!
Perfection is subjective, what you think is perfect with your web presence, content, and so on may not be to others, as a matter of fact, it won’t be for some.
So, let me suggest this; “make it as perfect as you think it can be for now, and work on perfecting it even more over time after you are going.”
I love my blog and website here, it is clean, the content I believe is good, and even great here and there. I also love the feel and usability of my websites, but not everyone does, as a matter of fact, I would bet on it if I could contact those that have come and gone here.
However, it did not start out perfect in my eyes here, I am building on it, bettering it all the time, and so will you.
Let go of the need for perfection, it will mean your failure online if you don’t.
When I decide to build a new blog and business online, each of the three times actually, I was thinking long term. As a matter of fact I have started umpteen businesses here, and when I started looking down the road with them, only three stuck in my long-term vision.
Your success online is not about the short term, it is about creating a lasting lifestyle that your blog and business here conform to, not the other way around.
Short term thinking here will get you in trouble. Short term thinking here will cost you more money. And, in the end, short-term thinking will end in failure.
There are many, many ways to make money with a blog today, but short-term thinking will not get you there, and if by chance it does, well, it won’t last long, I can almost guarantee it.
Think about the long-term, look at where you want your level of success to be a year from now, two years from now. Through this type of thinking, you will then set goals, and a single goal met is another step towards massive success here.
Give up the excuses.
Excuses, I am a father of five children I love with all my heart, yet the excuses I hear are crazy and plentiful.
I had them myself, and even today when it comes to learning new platforms or whatever I find daunting I can usually find an excuse to put it off for as long as possible. Yes, even today I do that from time to time!
However, it is becoming far and few between when I do make up the excuses to not learn and apply new things.
There is a learning curve to building anything successful online or off. This learning curve is usually where and why our excuses start and come from. We want easy, not simple, we want it now, not later.
To succeed here you’ll need to reverse those feelings above, you’ll need to be patient, be willing to learn and apply new skills, and let all excuses not to do what you need to do go.
Excuses are the tools with which persons with no purpose in view build for themselves great monuments of nothing.Click To Tweet
Excuses really only build one thing, failure, and failure at everything. I would rather fail trying something than to fail not trying because of all the excuses I can make up.
Failing while doing something is not really failing, it is just finding a way that something or some idea does not work. However, making excuses to not do something, well, that is failure period.
Enough of that now.
Give up false hope in the law of attraction crap.
I am sorry, but you sitting around with your legs crossed dreaming up visual crud in your mind will only attract laziness! No, I am not a fan of the law of attraction crud.
Don’t get me wrong, I have friends that do, and that is okay, they can believe whatever they want, but 2+2=4 every time, and any other answer is wrong. You can’t dream up a pizza in your room, you have to order it.
See, when you really look at the people who are successful who believe in that sense that you can focus on the positive and attract success, well, they are also busy creating great content, reaching out and doing what they need to do to build their business and share their passion!
They are putting forth the effort, they are working for it, not daydreaming it into existence. If you got rid of all the bad thoughts right now and starting positively thinking about a having a Hippo appear in your kitchen with a pizza, do you really think that will work? No!
But if you think it up, go and get a hippo and put a pizza by it in your kitchen, well, trust me, it was not the positive thinking that did it, it was you and your effort.
GET TO WORK!
Seriously, get to work, get up off your backend and stop thinking about stuff and do stuff. This law of attraction not only does not work, it is just a philosophy, and a new one in the world that has no historical basis or practices that have been proven to be true, ever.
But, giving up on excuses and getting to work always, well, works! So, get to work.
Quit multitasking, your not after all.
Today I was driving and blogging at the same time. Just kidding. As a matter of fact, we can’t even text and drive without risking a pretty serious accident. Want to know why? Well, it’s because we cannot multitask.
Multitasking is not possible, your attention mentally and physically can only be focused on one task at a time, just ask any scientist and psychologist. As another matter of fact, those that try miss things, constantly. Like the red light you might miss while texting, multitasking can hurt you more than you know.
Focus, focus, focus, that is what I tell people to do. Focusing on one thing is all we can really do.
Personally, right now, I am listening to Greg Laurie as I write. No, I do not understand everything he is talking or teaching about, I simply like the sound, the background noise, and I like either music or a soft, positive voice.
No, I cannot pay attention to both, my brain won’t let me, that is just a physical and mental barrier we have in the world, it is a natural law.
So, if you think you can multitask, then you are superhuman with the ability to do supernatural things according to the facts.
When it comes to building a successful blog, business, or whatever in life, focusing in on what we need to know, and how to implement it is where and what we need to be doing.
This is a problem for those trying to do too many things online constantly. To have successful blogs online starts with one.
You are not a multitasker, nor should you try. Focus on what you need to accomplish today, and get to tomorrow’s things tomorrow.
Let the “NO” people go.
This one is hard. Now I am not saying divorce your husband or wife, what I am saying is that sometimes you need to learn how to shut off the NO’s you hear around you.
Successful people listen to everyone, but we no good conversation and ideas from bad. We do not listen to some people and not others, we simply take the conversation and either use it in our lives, or we don’t.
“No” people are people who are always coming up with excuses of why something or some venture will not work. When it comes to succeeding online, I am sure you have heard people say things like; “You can’t make money online, nobody does…!”
I do. My friends do. I have coached people into 7-Figure incomes, that is more than I make! And trust me, every time I talked with them they always told me about friends and family members telling them they won’t succeed here, that they could not succeed here.
Well, suffice it to say, those “no people” are now yes people…
You can be friends and love those NO people, and listening to them is actually good for you, it gives you more reason to be here and prove them wrong!
Give up relying on one solution.
I teach blogging, but I also teach internet marketing because when it comes to building something successful online, it takes more than words and a blog today.
I gave up on relying on one platform a long time ago, and so should you.
Yes, a good blog and website is and should be the center of your business world online, it is where we want people to go and be. However, getting there cannot be through search engines and your blog only, that will mean failure much of the time.
You need to find a multimedia approach to your blogging and internet marketing efforts here.
Never ever do you find successful people relying on one answer to building the success they see, it is through a simple but multipronged approach or marketing practices that they make work for them.
It is not about a solution, it is about finding solutionS, yes, I capitalized the S for emphasis!
To succeed with blogging you need…
You need to get going today. You need to quit the excuse making, and listening to the no people as if they made sense. You need to unfold your legs and get up off your positive attraction marketing butt and get moving.
You need to build something for the long haul, something you are not only proud of, but those who use your services, your products or simply follow your voice and brand online are proud to be a part of as well.
